The social media world picks up faster than we, the volunteer executive of Moncton Fish and Game Association Inc, can keep up. The rumour is true. There has been a change to the date of our Annual Sportsman’s dinner. It will be November 23rd, 2019 at the same location (the Coverdale Recreational Centre) and doors open at 5 pm.
We are going to start the process of updating people. Many of you have already indicated (thank you) that you can still keep the fundraiser as a must-attend in your calendar. With the exception of the Christmas Turkey Drive, all the charity support we do every year is solely supported by this annual dinner.
Short story...long. Every year we have always booked the dinner on the 4th (last) Saturday of November, which up until this year when hunting season started a week later, was one week after deer hunting season ended.
So fast forward to 2019. Every 5-7 years there are five Saturdays in November. We truly felt and thought we had asked for the last Saturday in November. It is apparent now that the Executive did not make it clear in our intentions in that regard or Coverdale Rec Center took our interpretation as the 23rd as it was on November 24th in 2018. Regardless, it has left us a predicament that we must now rectify rather than remove altogether.
Either way, the executive is taking full responsibility for the miscommunication of our scheduled date mishap. There is a conflict with the November 30th date on our printed ticket. The Rec Center has booked a live concert on the 30th to benefit a very, very sick individual that cannot get their medical coverage covered by medicare and we do not want to interfere with what could only be regarded as a life-sustaining event. Understanding that both fundraisers are important we are doing what we can to accommodate both by changing our date to the 4th Saturday (November 23). We have the contact information of everyone who bought tickets which helps us contact those who have already bought tickets. We realize some might not be able to attend, we realize others may now be able to attend. We will have to deal with it regardless of where the fault lies, so we hope everyone can still come.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support of Moncton Fish and Game Association.
